Hi there.
So me and Raj had this gloryous idea to get together and work on a tomb raider project. A work that I decide to make (my eight attempt).
But for all others, and raj ofc, I am going to guide you throw the world of Tomb Raider, using TRLE, an engine editor to create TR games.
Introduction
TRLE is a free to use program, that will make you able to play and create custom Tomb Raider games.
It was originally made by Core design (like all tomb raiders until it changed in tomb raider 6), but made better with Next Generation (later explained).
So, if you like creating and playing adventure games, go for it
Things you need for a good start
1. The first thing needed, is to you download the engine/editor. Here's the link: www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr5/editor/trle.html
I advice you to download the full version.
2. Downloading a simple game tutorial (not editor tutorial). Heres one I guess its good enough to help you knowing the game, if you never played one: www.trle.net/sc/levelfeatures.php?lid=1832
Sadly, even if perhaps for me, the best tutorial in there. Many people downvoted it, because of a bug: You can't save in that tutorial
After you download, unpack, and click in lara croft simbol to play.
3. Play a non-custom tomb raider game. This is, play a real game of Tomb Raider. I advice you tomb raider 2, 3, 4 and maybe also 5 (those 4 are the best for me). You can anyways skip this step.
4. Downloading needed tools + last generation: You can decide to use the original editor from Core Design, or use a better version from Last Generation.
The Last generation, for me, its much better, faster, and perhaps a little easier to use (a example is: Instead of making 1 surface room, and then 1 water room, and join them. With Last Generation, you can grab the surface room, and in one click, it self-generates a water room below).
You will also need to download some tools:
a) MousePatch v2 - Larson 08 (instead of using keyboard to roll a room, use mouse, simpler)
b) Strpix 3.95 rev 1.1 - Turbo Pascal (later use)
c) TBuilder 2.4 Revision 1 - IceBerg (later use)
Here is the link for all needed: www.skribblerz.com/editortools.htm
Creating your first level
It will be hard to start understanding the mechanism of TRLE. But I'll help you with some tutorials and etc. Anytime you have question, just ask me (using it for 3/4 years, so I guess I will be able to answer).
1. Entering the room editor: To create your game, go to where you installed trle, and click in ngle.
