Hey everyone,
Today I've deleted Conquest from my computer. I don't have a copy of the disc, so I absolutely have no way to play the game now. I've tried to quit a few times before but always returned after a few months but this time is honestly different.
LOTR Conquest and the Conquest community was a large part of my life last year during some incredibly difficult personal times. I've genuinely come to regard many of you as dear friends, and I'll look back fondly on many of the hilarious times we had on the servers. I would like to keep in touch with you either on Xfire or through one of the forums as, for my part, I consider you guys lifelong friends!
Yes, this means that I won't be doing the 2012 LOTR Olympics. I've also cancelled the Hobbit challenge. I'm sorry about that. I was honestly looking forward to doing both but it's just the case that I simply don't have enough time. (Dark you'll still get your prize for the obstacle course event ofc!)
I've spent literally hundreds of hours working to keep Conquest alive but a number of factors have made me reach the decision to leave. It's quite nostalgic to think back over all the matches I have seen, the people I've met and the events I've organised. Thank you all very much for taking part in them. Unfortunately it's got to the stage where I'd have to work almost fulltime for no pay (indeed: actually paying money myself) to keep the needed level of support up (leaderboards, olympics, videos, podcasts etc). I'll continue to donate to the servers what I can. I would like to spend more time on my studies, and with my friends and my girlfriend. I am sad to be leaving, but I'm also convinced it's the right decision.
I will remember you all and the times we have had on this game and smile when I think back on them. I feel like this community was completely unique. There will never be anything like it ever again. Such a small, personal and dedicated group of people from across the world united in love for a game. From the bottom of my heart I wish all of you guys well.
And so, at last, comes the end our fellowship...
